About Us

Elizabeth Miller - Studio Owner/Instructor

Elizabeth is a 2007 graduate of Greene County Tech High School and a 2010 honor graduate of Black River Technical College. She has an associate of arts degree in education. Elizabeth has worked as an instructor at both the Performing Arts Academy and Tabatha's Dance Company in Paragould, AR.

As a student for seven years at the Performing Arts Academy, Elizabeth was instructed by Heather Claude and Ray Lynn Green in ballet, pointe, lyrical, jazz, tap, and modern dance technique. She also attended summer workshops taught by master instructors, Kameron Walters, Ilka Doubek, Annie Day, Marcus Alford, and Leslie Jordan III. In college, Elizabeth trained in tap at Arkansas State University and ballet at Belhaven University. Most recently she has received instruction at the Dance Masters of America Teachers Training School in Buffalo, New York.

Elizabeth has won over seventy dance awards at regional and national dance competitions. She also won the title of Miss Teen Northeast Arkansas 2006, competing with a pointe solo she choreographed. As Miss Teen Northeast Arkansas, Elizabeth was an advocate for the performing arts visiting with the Civitan and Rotary Clubs as well as visiting with elementary school children teaching them dance basics. Elizabeth was a member of the Mid-South Ballet Theatre for seven years where she danced in the annual presentation of the Nutcracker. She also danced in the Peter and the Wolf ballet accompanied by the Delta Symphony Orchestra in Jonesboro, Arkansas. While in high school, Elizabeth choreographed many dance numbers for the school's musicals and received the departmental award in theater her senior year.

Elizabeth is a former Greene County Fine Arts Council (GCFAC) board member. She was the assistant choreographer for the GCFAC productions of Beauty and the Beast and Wizard of Oz. She was also the choreographer for the GCFAC production of Fiddler on the Roof.

Elizabeth's husband is Bryan Miller and they are both members of Bible Baptist Church in Paragould, AR.

Classes We Offer

Ballet:

  • Classical in style our ballet class is very traditional with roots in the French,Vaganova, Balanchine and Cecchetti methods
  • All classes will begin with stretching, soon followed by barre work
  • Working at a barre allows the student to target one side of the body at a time as well as maintaining balance while conditioning
  • Barre work will be followed by jumps, turns, kicks, and leaps
  • Technical terms for all movement will be taught as defined by the "Technical Manual and Dictionary of Classical Ballet" by Gail Grant
  • Classical, Christian, and Family Friendly music will be used

Jazz:

  • Sticking to the classic roots of jazz, dancing will be kept clean
  • Each Class will start with a warm up and stretch, including isolation work
  • Basic techniques of turns, jumps, kicks, and floor work will be taught
  • Family Friendly and Contemporary Christian music will be used

Tap:

  • Class will begin with warming up the feet in the center of the floor
  • Students will do progressions across the floor and steps will be introduced in a stacking method
  • Primary focus will be not only on positions but also on sounds and rhythms of taps
  • Family Friendly and Contemporary Christian music will be used
