The Abilene Zoo was established in 1919, where it was located at Fair Park. We are pleased to say that in 2006, the Zoo celebrated forty fun years at our current location in Nelson Park! Each year over 200,000 people discover the wonderful world of wildlife at the Abilene Zoo.
The zoo's Education Department provides educational programs, summer camps, weekend programs, tours, pre-school classes, and special events year-round. The Zoo also has many ways to volunteer, such as zoo teens and docents. School groups are welcome, as well as birthday parties!
