About Kayaks
Welcome to About Kayaks, the only kayak facility located on the St. Sebastian River, one of Florida's last remaining Natural Rivers. We are conveniently located across from Dale Wimbrow Park in Sebastian, Florida and specialize in three hour self guided tours of the river. We feature sit in-side and sit on-top singles, tandems and canoes. The trip is all downstream so paddling is relatively easy. We supply you with the kayaks, paddles, life vests and instructions. Only a few minutes on the water and you'll feel like an expert.
As one of Florida's last remaining natural rivers your three hour self guided tour will be an adventure that will last a lifetime.
We feature the Emotion line of kayaks and paddleboards.
Self Guided Tour
After checking in at the office you will be transported to the launch site. Your three hour self guided trip down one of Florida's last remaining natural rivers, from the launch point to Dale Wimbrow Park is ideal for kayaking or canoeing. Narrow at the beginning it slowly widens as you proceed downstream along the thick vegetation which is comprised of subtropical plants, mangroves, oaks, cypress and palms. The flow rate is slow and as the river is protected from the wind, paddling is very easy even for someone new to kayaking. There are a few houses along the right side of the river but most are set back so as not to be a distraction.
While we can't guarantee you will see any wildlife, it is not uncommon to see many birds including, Osprey, Sandhill Cranes, Herons, Egrets, Vultures and Bald Eagles. Occasionally Turtles and alligators may be seen sunning themselves. Otter, Raccoons, an occasional Bobcat and of course Manatee are seen at different times.
Though the tour can be completed in three hours, feel free to stop along the way. There is so much to see, places to explore and consider bringing a picnic lunch. Remember, your rental is good from the time we open until one hour before closing time.
