Thank You! Your rating has been saved.

At the beginning of June, 2003 sculptor Alan Cottrill moved his sculpture studio and gallery from Washington, Pennsylvania to a new 17,000 square foot facility in downtown Zanesville, Ohio - Alan's hometown. This expanded and improved space is open to the public 6 days per week and other times by appointment. This new location provides Alan and his artisans a space most artists only dream of - wide open areas with high ceilings, ample natural daylight, thousands of square feet of gallery space and a prime downtown location.

About the artist

Alan Cottrill was born in Zanesville, Ohio in 1952. After a stint in college, the army and truck driving, Alan founded the successful Four Star Pizza franchise and became an international entrepreneur. His business endeavors allowed him to travel the world on many U.S. government trade missions. Through these travels, Alan was able to visit the world's major art museums and galleries. In addition, he became an avid art collector and painted in his spare time.

In 1990 Alan touched clay for the first time and declared "This is the mistress I've traveled the world in search of." He sold his business interests and dedicated himself full-time to becoming one of the finest figurative sculptors in the world. Toward that end, Alan moved to New York City and studied sculpture at the renowned Art Students League and the National Academy of Design. He also studied Anatomy at Columbia Medical Center.

Alan approaches his art with the same determination that led to his successes in business - sculpting seven days a week with a whirlwind energy that is unequalled. Intense, ambitious and goal driven, Alan has created hundreds of busts and figures, many at monu-mental scale. Alan's works have been described as being powerful, virile, and full of life, energy and complexity.
