Altus Public Library
The Altus Public Library serves the residents of Jackson and Harmon Counties.
The Altus Public Library contains over 60,000 volumes as well as audio books, records, and DVDs. Free Wireless Internet access is available. There are 8 Internet terminals for public use; 5 for adults and 3 for children.
The normal circulation period for books is 28 days; audio materials 14 days; video materials 5 days.
About the Library System
The Southern Prairie Library System provides public library services to residents of Jackson and Harmon counties in southwest Oklahoma through two branch libraries located at Altus and Hollis; and extension services to rural residents in both counties.
The administrative offices of the library system are located at the Altus Public Library.
Our Mission
To meet the informational needs of all ages, the Southern Prairie Library System commits its resources to the promotion of reading and lifelong learning. The library will draw upon available resources to present programs that stimulate intellectual growth, instill a love of reading, and encourage the sharing of ideas. The library will provide access to information through a variety of materials and the effective use of technology.
