Welcome to Alum Rock Park, one of California's Oldest Muncipal Park.

The park entrance is located at 15350 Penitencia Creek Road. From Interstate 680 exit Berryessa Road east, turn right on Capitol then left on Penitencia Creek Road. Follow the road toward the foothills to the park entrance.

PARKING: Parking fee is $6.00 per vehicle on weekends and holidays (fees subject to change). Higher fees are charged on high use days. During peak season, parking is limited. We encourage your group to car-pool when possible and to arrive early to avoid parking problems. Please inquire about group parking at time of reservation.

VEHICLE ACCESS: Vehicles are not allowed on service roads or trails. Please plan to carry any items you bring to the park, into and out of your area. Under special circumstances Park Rangers can provide vehicle escorts, prior to 11:00 a.m. and after 6:00 p.m. only. Unescorted vehicles in or around picnic areas are subject to citation.

ACTIVITIES: Activities at the park include: hiking, bicycling, volleyball, horseshoes, and picnicking. A volleyball court is located just west of the Visitor Center between the Chaparral and Log Cabin sites. There are no open areas for activities such as softball. The Youth Science Institute (YSI) is also located in the park, offering a variety of educational activities for children.

RESTROOMS: Restrooms are located at the Visitor Center, the Youth Science Institute, and adjacent to the Log Cabin and Eagle Rock Picnic areas. Additional restrooms are located near the mineral springs and at the Live Oak, Rustic Lands and Quail Hollow picnic area. Restroom facilities are open based on need and picnic reservations.

DAY CAMP/ CAMPING: Permitted with applicable fees. Youth Group overnight camping is permitted by reservation in the Rustic Lands and Live Oak areas only.
