Ballet West

The Ballet West Academy trains pure classical ballet with a uniquely American Syllabus developed by our Artistic Director Adam Sklute in conjunction with our world renowned faculty and artistic staff. The training is primarily Cecchetti based incorporating elements of RAD, Paris Opera, Bournonville and Balanchine techniques.

The progressions prepared by the Academy director and principle faculty incorporate scientific principles along with the stylistic requirements of Ballet West.

The result of this approach to dance education allows students to apply their natural talents and adapt to all styles and techniques of dance.

Our Mission

The Ballet West Academy, the official school of Ballet West is Utah's premier source of dance training providing the highest caliber of ballet instruction to the pre-professional student as well as those who wish to gain a deeper understanding of this beautiful and demanding art form. Along with our unique relationship with the professional company and artistic staff of Ballet West, we have a superior faculty of national renown who are dedicated to developing and inspiring the whole child, both as an accomplished dancer and healthy individual. Academy students experience a structured curriculum offered in a nurturing and positive environment, targeting and exploring each student's individual strengths and abilities.

The Ballet West Academy strives to be a dynamic leader in the international field of dance education. Drawing on our unique local dance heritage, and utilizing our connections with our national and international dance communities, we will continue to expand our educational offerings in a state of the art facility as we train and inspire the next generation of dancers. We intend to be a positive resource for local and regional dance schools, providing opportunities for constructive dialogues and collaborative support.

Education & Outreach

Ballet West is committed to providing quality education programs that allow teachers and students of all ages to experience the joy and magic of live ballet regardless of financial or geographical barriers. The Ballet West Educational and Outreach program has four main components: I CAN DO, Ballet West for Children, Ballet West In-Theatre Performances and First Look.

In 1963 Ballet West began education programs for students and teachers of all ages.

Each year, Ballet West Educational and Outreach programs serve more than 20 districts, over 320 schools and nearly 80,000 throughout the state. In addition, Ballet West serves numerous home schools and special needs groups.

Ballet West Educational and Outreach programs are supported by generous contributions from public minded corporations, individuals, foundations, government agencies and by a broad base of community support.
