Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge
Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge (MBR) lies in northern Utah, where the Bear River flows into the northeast arm of the Great Salt Lake. The Refuge protects the marshes found at the mouth of the Bear River; these marshes are the largest freshwater component of the Great Salt Lake ecosystem. Since these marshes are in turn surrounded by arid desert lands, it is little wonder that they have always been an oasis for waterfowl!
Environmental education and interpretation are a vital part of what we do at Bear River MBR. A variety of tours, programs, and events are offered throughout the year.
Do your children enjoy hands-on learning experiences? Do they treasure story time? Do you strive to engage your children in exploration of the world around them?
The Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge offers area, families, preschool and day-care students opportunities for discovery through our Wetland Wings and Other Wild Things program, an age-appropriate curriculum focusing on connecting children with their natural world. We offer hands-on, exploratory learning experiences for children ages 3-5. Your children will learn about wetlands, eagles, owls, animal tracks and more.
