Berlin Public Library
The Berlin Public Library (270 Main Street, Berlin) was built in 1903 with a $15,000 grant from the Andrew Carnegie Endowment Fund. A.I. Lawrence was the architect, and Steward and Snodgrass were the builders. This classically inspired building features red brick with lighter brick quoining. It has a monumental arched entrance and windows filled with glass block. Inside, there is an exhibit of Indian artifacts.
Computers & Internet Access:
The Berlin Public Library has Internet access computers available for its patrons use. Computers are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Patrons wishing to use the Internet are asked to sign-up at the appropriate front desk. Computer usage is limited to 1 hour per day. There is no charge for use of the computers. There is a 15¢ per page charge for printed pages. Printing is only available in black and white, single sided pages.
The Adult Department has seven (7) Internet access computer stations and one (1) word processing computer station. Patrons in grade 8 and above have access to these computers. The Children's Department has (3) Internet access computer stations. Patrons in grade 7 or lower have access to these computers.

- BOOKS - Fiction and non-fiction
- AUDIO BOOKS - Limited titles available on cassette & CD. Because of the advances in technology, the cassette collection of audio books is being slowly phased out
- INTER LIBRARY LOAN - Allows for borrowing titles not owned by BPL from other libraries within the State. Available to all patrons with cards in good standing. While normally free, fees may be charged by lending library.
- COMPUTERS & INTERNET ACCESS - Available in adult and children's libraries
- LARGE PRINT BOOKS - Copies owned by library supplemented by State Library on regular basis
- LIBRARY CARDS - For Berlin residents there is no membership fee. For residents of the surrounding areas that can be reached without a long distance phone call charge there is a $25.00 per year per family fee. All others must use their library's ILL system.
- MAGAZINES - Many popular magazines are on hand at library.
- MOVIES - Limited titles available in DVD & VHS
- MUSIC - Limited titles on CD
- NEWSPAPERS -Regional newspapers are kept for approximately 2 months. Berlin newspapers are available since their inception. Archives of local papers on microfilm.
- NHSL SERVICES FOR HANDICAPPED -Provides direct resources to the handicapped. Applications available at BPL as well as on line
- COPIER - Available for public use at 15¢ per page. Black and white, single side only
- COMPUTER PRINTERS - Available for public use at 15¢ per page. Black and white, single side only
- FAX - Fax number (603) 752-8568. Available for public use at 50¢ per page incoming and outgoing.
- MICROFILM READER & PRINTER - Available to research local papers. Patrons are allowed to bring in microfilm from other sources to use on microfilm reader. Use is at the patron's risk, the library is not responsible for damage to non-library property while using library equipment. Copies are 50¢ per page. Black and white, single side only.
