The Paramount Theater is also the place in Alamance County to watch a community theater production. The Gallery Players, Paramount Acting Company and many others utilize the space for a variety of on-stage performances.

DOING BUSINESS

The geographic location of downtown Burlington makes it a great place to start a business. The Burlington Downtown Corporation has resources to support the growth of new business, and the sustainability of those currently located within the district. Grant support is available for a variety of uses, and some buildings might qualify for Historic Tax Credits.

Overview

The Burlington Downtown Corporation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. We are a nationally accredited Main Street Community, and are associated with the North Carolina Main Street Center. Our mission statement is as follows:

Mission

To create an environment for development that enhances Downtown Burlington as the cultural, historic, social and economic center of the community.

The BDC works to promote downtown as the place to live, work and shop. We offer support to business and property owners within our district through a variety of programs.

The majority of our organization's funding is provided by a Municipal Service District (MSD), made up of 16 blocks in downtown Burlington. We also receive funding from the City of Burlington, as well as private donors.
