Camp Edmo, Edventure More
Edventure More is a year-round 501(c)(3) non-profit enrichment organization. Since 2004, we have created award-winning summer camp and school year programs in partnership with top Bay Area museums and talented professionals. We are a local force in the national movement to prevent Summer Learning Loss, build 21st Century Life Skills and save hands-on learning in schools. To ensure equal enrichment access, we commit 5% of camp proceeds and 100% of donations towards camp scholarships and subsidized hands-on science programs for schools.
Mission Statement
Edventure More exists to inspire the playful pursuit of enrichment in the next generation. Our programs provide a place for all kids to nurture their innate curiosity, confidence and kindness through hands-on science, art, technology and outdoor activities.
Celebrating 10 years of supporting Bay Area families, schools & communities!
In 2004 Sharon Mor and Ed Caballero co-founded Edventure More out of a shared passion for inquiry-based learning and personal growth. Sharon and Ed wanted to create a space where learning felt like an adventure for both kids and staff. They also wanted participants in their programs to learn about the world around them; but more importantly learn about themselves in the process. As a way to add to their own 20+ years of combined experience in the field of summer camps, enrichment programming, motivational tutoring, and mentoring, Sharon and Ed sought partnership with the top Bay Area museums and children's organizations. These organizations were key in building Edventure More's curriculum, designing their programs, training staff, and helping Edventure More achieve its mission.
Edventure More currently partners with Playworks to continue building life skills through outdoor play. From 2006-present, The Children's Creativity Museum (formerly named Zeum") has collaborated on several digital media curriculum including the ever-popular Animation programs offered at Camp Edmo and Camp EdTech. From 2005-present, the Museum of Children's Art has designed and trained art curriculum that compliments both the physical and natural science themes at camp. Since Summer 2012, Edventure More has partnered with Kimochi's to help campers build their emotional intelligence and Let's Go Chipper to build campers' critical thinking skills and an appreciation for nature.
Edventure More currently has three main divisions:
Summer Camp Programs: What began as one tiny camp in 2004, has grown into the award-winning camps, Camp Edmo and Camp EdTech, with over 17 locations in the Bay Area serving over 5,000 kids every summer. The proceeds raised through the camps support not only the high-quality programs offered, but also help subsidize the cost of the other two divisions serving the community.
School Year Programs: Edventure More's In Class Programs also began in 2004 when Sharon and Ed's teacher friends asked them to design hands-on science presentations for their classrooms. The In Class programs have been funded partially by grants and most recently by proceeds from Camp Edmo and Camp EdTech. In 2011, after many requests, After School Programs were also added to the list of school year offerings.
Giving Programs: In the wake of budget cuts in Bay Area schools over the past 10 years and the staggering increase of the effects of Summer Learning Loss in low income families, Ed and Sharon made a commitment to the communities they served by establishing the Give Camp to Kids Program, granting over $360,000 in scholarships since 2004. In 2012, they expanded their fundraising efforts to also subsidize the cost of classroom science programs for schools; allocating 5% of all summer program proceeds and 100% of donations to support both of these important areas.
Since 2009, Edventure More's camps have been voted "Best Summer Day Camp" and "Best Enrichment Support Program" four times by BayAreaParent Magazine. Ed and Sharon have also led dozens of parent seminars on maximizing the potential of summer. The pair have also led professional development workshops on The Power of Developing & Quantifying Life Skills at the National Conference for Summer Learning as well as dozens of parent workshops in local schools on how to maximize a child's development during the summer.
