Cedar Breaks National Monument
Cedar Breaks National Monument is a natural amphitheater which sits at an elevation of over 10,000 feet, so no matter how hot it is in nearby Cedar City it is always cool at Cedar Breaks. Throughout the summer months rangers host special hikes and interpretive discussions as well as a Wildflower Festival, Star Gazing Parties and much more.
In the fall the trees display an impressive array of colors making the five-mile drive through the monument something to remember. In 2007 the NBC Today Show ranked Scenic Southern Utah and Cedar City as one of the "Eight Great and Unusual Fall Foliage Destinations".
Although the road may be closed in winter due to heavy snow, the monument opens as a groomed trail for cross-country skiing, snow shoeing, and snowmobiling with a yurt serving as a back-country ranger station with hot chocolate ready for those adventurous enough to brave the snow.

Wildflower Festival & Fall Colors
Cedar Breaks is an excellent location for wildflower walks in the summer and brilliant leaf color in autumn. Visit Cedar Breaks during our annual Wildflower Festival in July. Late September to early October offer the best views of leaf colors on Cedar Mountain. Cedar Breaks was rated by USA Today as "one of the top ten places to experience fall colors" in the United States.
Star Parties
To celebrate and share the beauty of our dark night skies, Cedar Breaks hosts an annual series of "Star Parties." Star parties take place at Point Supreme overlook, and are free of charge. Telescopes are provided for viewing, although visitors with their own telescopes are invited to bring them along.
