Children's Museum of Maine is founded by the Junior League of Portland in 1976.
The Museum moves to Westbrook College campus on Stevens Avenue to a 4,000 square foot Victorian building in 1980.
Dinamation: Land of the Giants exhibit attracts 50,000 visitors and earns national news coverage in 1988.
Moonwalk exhibit celebrates 20th anniversary of America's first historic Moon landing and attracts 8,000 visitors in 1989.
The Children's Museum & Theatre of Maine exists to inspire discovery and imagination through exploration and play.

The Museum & Theatre serves as an indispensable resource for families and educators, helping to create a broad community devoted to our children's development and learning.

The Museum & Theatre is a significant and valuable community asset, offering a broad and diverse array of educational and cultural enrichment opportunities especially developed for children ages 0-10 and the adults who accompany them.
