Deming Luna Mimbres Museum

Thank You! Your rating has been saved.

The Deming Luna Mimbres Museum houses exhibits relating to the everyday lives of the citizens of Deming and the Mimbres Valley. Its unique charter has resulted in a wide variety of exhibits which defy traditional classification.

All of the exhibits have come from private donations. They include paintings, furniture, period rooms, antique machines and tools, toys, dolls, clothes, vehicles, farm equipment, war memorabilia, photographs, Indian artifacts, gems and geodes, and an important collection of Mimbres pottery.

The Deming Luna Mimbres Museum was named for the City of Deming, Luna County, and the Mimbres Valley. It is housed in the old National Guard Armory, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is also a State Historic Site. The Museum is located directly across the street from the Custom House and the Archives-all three facilities are governed by the non-profit Luna County Historical Society.

The Museum is run entirely by volunteers and is sustained by contributions from visitors, fundraising events, private donations, and sales from our gift shop. Today, the Museum is one of the few remaining volunteer-begun, volunteer-run, low budget museums in the country.
