Downtown Albemarle

Our Mission:
ADDC promotes and facilitates events, new business development, and rehabilitation of property through partnerships to sustain Downtown Albemarle as an economic engine.
Our Vision:
Downtown Albemarle, NC is the pathway to recreational opportunities in the Uwharrie Lakes Region, promoting healthy living, arts and entertainment.
ADDC was established in August of 1989 and has accomplished many tasks over its 21 years in operation. Our purpose is to aid and promote the redevelopment, improvement, beautification, and revitalization of downtown Albemarle. The organization is governed by a board of directors selected by Albemarle City Council and consists of a two person staff; the executive director, Kathy Almond and the administrative assistant, Victoria Sites.
As a non-profit agency our funding is based on community support. We receive funds from the Municipal Service District (MSD), the City of Albemarle, donations, and through fundraising events like the Outdoorsman's Bonanza. The remaining events and promotions that take place are sponsored events from downtown businesses and private sponsors.
ADDC is a member of the North Carolina Main Street Program, which helps promote the revitalization of NC downtowns and helps to preserve their history. Our organization could not function without the support of the downtown businesses and our many volunteers. It is because of their selfless efforts that we can continue our mission.
