Downtown Minot

The DBPA would like to welcome you to the "heart" of Minot, North Dakota. Our past is rich in history, tradition, and community.

Established as a railroad community in the mid 1800's, Minot's downtown district is one today that reflects the distinctive history of turn-of-the-century architecture, while providing all the products and services expected in today's marketplace. A rich heritage and variety of shopping thrive in Historic Downtown Minot. The continued efforts of private business owners and community involvement have preserved some of the area's most interesting properties and trades.

The Downtown Business & Professionals Association, a non-profit corporation, is organized to promote the businesses of downtown Minot, North Dakota. Membership in the DBPA shows support for the downtown community, and gives businesses the chance to highlight their offerings through the many downtown promotions scheduled throughout the year. Downtown events attract thousands of people per year to visit, shop, and dine. During Wine Walk Event alone, over five thousand dollars was raised towards the continued beautification of Minot's downtown area.

Mission

Develop Downtown Minot that promotes new and existing business and non-profit organizations.

Vision

Create an exciting atmosphere while developing an association that assists businesses and non-profit organizations as well as preserving the heart, heritage and history of Downtown Minot.

Accomplishments

• Continually solicit new members, with membership today of over 81 area businesses and professionals.
• Seasonally attract visitors and residents Downtown during various yearly functions, including the Easter Bunny Walk, street Festival, Halloween Walk, Olde Fashioned Christmas Open House, parades and more.
• Support local Downtown Minot merchants by locally purchasing Christmas decorations, banners, flowers, and necessary maintenance materials needed through out the year.
• Work together with local retail merchants to advertise to the public using a variety of media channels, including radio, television, and printed media.
• Offer new business owners the opportunity to take part in the Downtown's unique character, charm, and history, such as the Historical Fountain on Main.
• Remind area residents and visitors that Downtown Minot remains active, alive, and completive!

Association Goals

(Short Term)

• Maintain consistent advertising program to remind the public of the variety of shopping and cultural opportunities in the Downtown area.
• Create a unique holiday experience with decorations to light up Main Street.
• Encompass a broader member-involvement base.
• Publish a Downtown brochure and distribute to CVB Packets, Chamber Packets, MAFB New Arrivals, Downtown Businesses and more!

(Long Term)

• Continue to promote Minot, with our emphasis on the Downtown area, to include professionals, services, and retail businesses.
• Expand membership and membership involvement
• Strive to inform and involve the entire Downtown Community in Association activities.
• Create and maintain and interactive web site to promote the Downtown area, available only to members.
