Downtown Ocean City

Ocean City's Downtown is the largest downtown shopping district along the Jersey Shore. Located between the beach and bay on Asbury, the Downtown is home to more than 100 shops, restaurants, service businesses and entertainment niches from 6th to 11th Streets along Asbury Avenue. The shops are independently owned and operated and have been recognized as at the #1 Shopping District at the Shore by South Jersey Magazine as well as the top US City for Independent Retail. The Downtown is a destination for shopping, dining and made-by-you gifts.

The Downtown is a pedestrian friendly neighborhood where you can get pampered, pickup a sweet treat or a one-of-a-kind gift to spoil a friend or yourself.Downtown Ocean City is a place where we gather as neighbors, as business owners, as visitors to find a sense of community and belonging. The Downtown is the year round heartbeat of Ocean City, offering year round shopping and dining plus a hub for events.

The Downtown continues to embrace the excitement of the new causeway and is working to bring additional improvements at an equivalent pace including more public art, way finding systems and a direct, inviting path from the bridge to the district for walkers and bikers. The Downtown also continues to work with the City on design and other standards so that they are formulated by those who work and live in the district.

Efforts continue to refine and reshape Downtown events to bring "feet to the street" BUT focus is shifting to the market and promote the Downtown as a year-round shopping destination. There are many new stores and owners on the Avenue and 9th Street, which have brought new and exciting products and services, while maintaining the high standard of customer service. The energy and excitement have sparked a number of new retail and promotional events, while continuing to refine and reshape tried and true traditional events. These events introduce shoppers to the Downtown and reacquaint many locals with what the Downtown has to offer: boutique shopping, galleries, eateries, entertainment and services, along with a home for family friendly events. The stores are proud to be independently owned and operated.
