The mission of Downtown Poplar Bluff, Inc. is to assist the City and property owners in the promotion of downtown Poplar Bluff as an economic, historic and family-friendly cultural center.

Plans are underway for our Downtown PB Farmer's Market starting in May 2013! We'll have a growers & producers meeting Monday April 8th at 6pm at the Depot for anyone who's interested in selling. Please spread the word!

Promotion and Events Committee

This committee will promote the mission of Downtown Poplar Bluff, Inc.; market the historic downtown district's unique characteristics to encourage consumers and investors to live, work, shop, play and invest in downtown; plan and conduct special events; support fundraising efforts for the organization; and hold educational sessions of interest to downtown business and property owners. This committee will also create informational and educational materials and brochures for the use of downtown property and business owners; and publicize all activities to the public to offer continual education regarding the efforts being made in the community to preserve the historical district, promote interest, and support increased tourism and business development downtown.

Economic Restructuring Committee

This committee will help strengthen the community's existing economic assets, while expanding and diversifying its economic base. The committee will create an inventory of properties and businesses in the downtown area; educate property owners on financial incentives associated with restoring historical buildings and other new downtown development; undertake activities that will help sharpen the competitiveness of existing business owners and recruit compatible new businesses and new economic uses to build a historic, commercial district that responds to today's consumers' needs. The committee will also promote a positive image of downtown Poplar Bluff that encourages adaptive reuse of existing structures as well as new development.

Design Committee

This committee will lead the charge to get downtown Poplar Bluff into top physical shape. This includes capitalizing on downtown's best assets - such as historic buildings and pedestrian-oriented streets; creating an inviting atmosphere through attractive window displays, parking areas, building improvements, street furniture, signs, sidewalks, street lights, and landscaping; instilling good maintenance practices in the downtown area; developing and implementing plans to enhance the physical appearance of the downtown area by rehabilitating historic buildings, encouraging appropriate new construction, developing sensitive design management systems, and undertaking long-term planning. This committee will also work with the Poplar Bluff Historic Preservation Commission to ensure that all exterior improvements, from renovation and rehabilitation projects to new construction, are compatible with the overall architectural character of the downtown historic district.
