In 2006 Sedalia was selected as a Missouri DREAM community, a program that will assist in the redevelopment and revitalization efforts of Sedalia's Historic Downtown area.

Stroll through one of the largest concentrations of historic buildings in the Midwest. More than 70 structures spread out over several blocks are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Beyond pretty facades, these buildings house a unique blend of specialty shops and services. These businesses represent downtown Sedalia's greatest asset-its people. You'll meet merchants and visionaries who take a personal interest in their customers and community.

Steeped in history, downtown Sedalia is entering a new era of progress. The very site where Sedalia began 150 years ago-the former Missouri Pacific railroad depot-has been converted into a $1.2 million multi-modal transportation center.

Multi-use housing/retail developments, loft condominiums, and numerous building restorations are underway.
