Dunn Erwin Rail Trail

The Dunn-Erwin Trail is a 5.3 mile by 100 foot shaped connection corridor of rail line that makes a wye-shaped connection between the towns of Dunn and Erwin in Harnett County, North Carolina. Harnett County is located near the geographical cnter of the state and lies between the two metropolitan areas of Fayetteville and Raleigh. Ther project emerges from the heart of Dunn and Erwin and traverses through their suburban and light industrial fringe, through rural farmland dotted with cotton fields and cottages and across a swath of the beautiful Black River and its wetlands.

Scenic 5 mile rail corridor that has been transformed into a nature trail for walking, biking and strolling. Trail heads in both downtown Dunn and downtown Erwin. Historic markers are located along the trail as well as restaurants and shops at both ends. Trail crosses the Black River and runs into rural Harnett County. Trail opened in daylight hours only.
