Thank You! Your rating has been saved.

A roster of educational programs linked to our permanent and traveling exhibits merges new science ideas with our mission. From weekly preschool programs and inquiry-based school field trip activities to adult educational events, ECHO is all about experiential learning through exhibit exploration, interaction with our dynamic Staff and Volunteers, hands-on activities, and memorable events both online and within our facility.

  • ECHO offers a complete lineup of Teacher's Choice programs for schools, preschools, and homeschoolers. We also offer outreach programs through our Leahy Center Partnership Programs.
  • ECHO offers eight K - 6 grade programs in science and cultural history to captivate young minds. With our personal attention to your group - from the moment you enter our doors until it's time to re-board the bus, we want your experience to be well-supported, personalized, and in line with your group's educational goals. Learn more about field trips for schools or for camps. Then, for the fastest service, use our online registration form to help you plan and provide our Group Sales Staff with all the details to finalize your trip painlessly!
  • Groups arrive after ECHO has closed to the public and have exclusive access to our exhibit halls. Afterwards, the evening's scheduled activities begin with a whole-group welcome presentation. Small groups then rotate between a series of 3 hands-on workshops, with a break for an evening snack.

At 11:15 p.m., participants will set-up their sleeping bags for lights-out at 11:30 p.m. Following a light breakfast the next morning, the groups have additional time to explore ECHO and purchase souvenirs from our gift shop before departure at 9:00 a.m

Sample Evening Workshops (workshops will vary by group)

  • Starlore: participants track stars as they rise over Lake Champlain using telescopes and I-pads while learning about different constellation formations.
  • ECHOcaching: participants search for caches (containers filled with logs and "treasure') around ECHO following informative clues and using handheld GPS units.
  • Live Animal Demo: participants experience a meet-and-greet with ECHO's Animal Ambassadors.
  • Molecular Snack Attack: ECHO staff cook-up wacky late-night snacks for the group using liquid nitrogen.

Groups:

ECHO Overnights are intended for supervised groups of 2nd-8th graders. We require a chaperone-to-child ratio of 1:7. For additional information and specials for your specific group, please see below:

  • School Groups: ECHO will subsidize 1 student for every 7 students registered.
