Española Public Library
The Española Public Library endeavors to maintain and improve the quality of life for all citizens of our community by providing resources that enhance and contribute to individual knowledge, enlightenment, and enjoyment in the most efficient manner possible. We especially recognize our responsibility to serve as a place for children to discover the joy of reading and the value of libraries.
We serve the northern part of the state as a State Depository for New Mexico State documents. It is our pride and pleasure to promote the use of these government supplied resources.
In May of 2010, the library added a Wi-Fi Network to our services for patrons. A password is required for use. A printer is not available at this time for wireless network users. It is expected that the user/owner of the laptop is capable of configuring the network setting on his/her own computer. Our staff is not trained to configure your laptop to use the network and cannot provide troubleshooting assistance. If you have trouble connecting with your laptop, please remember that you may use one of our free public access. Our free wireless network is not a secure network. We recommend that you do not use this network for the transfer of sensitive data, such as credit card numbers or bank account numbers, even while using SSL encryption built into your web browser. This data would be vulnerable during transit on the network, where any person in the area running simple software on a wireless laptop computer could intercept the data. The Española Public Library accepts no liability for any loss of privacy or data you may experience while using the network.
Every Thursday from 10 AM -11AM we invite children of all ages to visit the library and take part in our Story Hour. A story is read, a craft may be created or a silly song will be shared. Sometimes a performance from our puppet patrons is performed.
On the third Saturday of every month, the library hosts a Super Saturday Special for families. The program is free and is always a lot of fun. Sometimes due to limited supplies registration is required. Please view our calendar on our website for future activities.
Many children lose ground in reading over the summer, and begin the school year at a level lower than what they achieved the previous year. Eight weeks during the summer the library plans a Summer Reading Program for youth ages 3-17. Students in the library's summer program make substantial gains in reading skills and return to school with increased confidence and excitement about reading. Weekly prizes are awarded to our readers and special library programs are brought in to entertain the whole family.
Our Friends of the Library operate a bookstore inside the library every Tuesday from 10-12 and the first and second Saturday of every month from 10-12.
