Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Orchestra

Thank You! Your rating has been saved.

MISSION:

The Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Orchestra serves the Fargo-Moorhead region and contributes to the cultural lives of its citizens by presenting high-quality performances in an accessible variety of venues, actively participating in educational programs for youth and adults, reaching out to new and underserved audiences, and finding new ways to bring the experience of orchestral music to the community.

VISION:

Our organizational goals focus on our stated mission, particularly to serve the citizens of our community. We know that it is not enough to simply advertise our concerts and expect audiences to come to us. Our relationship with the community is much deeper and more meaningful. The future of our community's culture and how today's young people will value the arts depends on arts organizations reaching out to bring enrichment and understanding to all sectors of our community.

The Fargo-Moorhead Symphony strives to position itself as an integral part of the community, not simply a peripheral attraction. Every concert, special event and outreach program seeks to find new ways to genuinely engage each listener. From small groups of FMSO musicians performing at area homeless shelters to artistic collaborations with public libraries, we are constantly seeking new ways to bring immediacy, relevance and personal connections to all segments of our community through the shared experience of orchestral music.

This is an exciting time for the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Orchestra and for our community.

In its 81-year history, the symphony has had only five conductors. The decision of who will be the next artistic leader is a momentous one which will involve valuable input from the orchestra musicians, audience members, symphony supporters, students, and community members - including YOU!

When you attend the Masterworks Series concerts this year, you will have the opportunity to share your thoughts about each of the five finalists with the Conductor Search Committee and the symphony's Board of Trustees.
