First State Heritage Park
The First State Heritage Park at Dover is Delaware's first urban "park without boundaries" linking historic and cultural sites in the city that has been the seat of state government since 1777. It is a partnership of state and city agencies under the leadership of Delaware State Parks.
First State Heritage Park Welcome Center and Galleries
Effective immediately, Duke of York Street has been renamed Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard North. This affects the address for the First State Heritage Park Welcome Center and for the Delaware Public Archives. The address for both was formerly 121 Duke of York Street and is now 121 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard North. Please be aware that Google maps may not immediately reflect the new street name. In the interim, if you are using GPS to find either the Welcome Center or the Archives, please plug in 121 Duke of York Street or use the following coordinates: N 39° 09.487 W 075° 31.204
The Welcome Center offers plentiful free parking, information about First State Heritage Park programs and events, a gallery of changing exhibits on Delaware history and a rotating display of Delaware's founding documents.
