The mission of Gervasi Vineyard is to provide the total winery experience. Gervasi offers a memorable destination for local wine lovers, diners, families, businesses, and tourists who enjoy the few special places where beauty, tradition, comfort, and appreciation for good wine and food connect. Gervasi is designed for adults seeking an affordable, fresh and romantic dining experience by night; families seeking outdoor beauty, fun, and great food by weekend; and corporate teams looking for a unique meeting setting by day.
Wine varieties are among the best in Ohio, produced by wine experts. The Bistro ingredients are seasonally hand-selected and often grown by local farmers. The property vineyards and landscaping are picturesque from every view and include beautiful grounds with activities for relaxation and fun. Last but not least, Gervasi's attentive and accommodating style of service will not disappoint you. Wherever you see the Gervasi quality stamp of approval, you know it is well-prepared, unique, fresh and delicious.
Ownership Background
The Swaldo Family originates from Italy. Grandma Gervasi (maiden name) was known for her traditional Italian ways and her cooking was no exception. Her marinara sauce is still a staple ingredient to many Swaldo family meals.
In January 2009, Ted Swaldo officially retired from his career as CEO at ASC Industries, Inc. in North Canton, OH. A true self-made success story. Ted is an engineer at heart whose interests now include real estate development, racing, boating, and tinkering with any type of machinery, which explains his key role of developing the winery production facility.
However, Gervasi Vineyard is a family project. Ted's son, Scott Swaldo and Jeff Hicks manage the overall vineyard operations including the winery, Bistro restaurant, Marketplace, the new boutique inn and event planning. Ted's daughter Christi Blackerby and wife Linda Swaldo will coordinate the Marketplace gift shop, retail wine sales. Christi's husband, Tom Blackerby, is lending a helping hand behind the scenes.
It was decided that this family project would integrate their traditional Italian heritage with the many interests of the Swaldo family, including great food, wine, fun, and appreciation for beautiful things. The family aims to have a casual, fun atmosphere where adults and families of all kinds will come for a great time. This destination full of many things to do, including a boutique winery and restaurant (with mid-scale prices) and a boutique inn for overnight stays will be welcoming with an inspiring environment.
As many know, anything created by the Swaldo's is an experience. In this project as well, ideas will run free and quickly advance to execution with a fearless drive that many would abandon.
