Celebrating the human spirit in its pursuit of individual, political, and artistic freedoms, these selections from the GCMA's permanent collection invite viewers to discover and invent their own definitions of freedom. Here's Your Freedom features works by such artists as Fritz Bultman, David Hare, Philip Guston, Andy Warhol, and Eric Fischl among other notable modern and contemporary artists.

Andrew Wyeth: The Greenville Collection is now the largest and the most complete collection of Andrew Wyeth's watercolors owned by any public museum in the world. Discover this magnificent collection of works by America's iconic watercolor master. Highlights include Four Poster and Dusk.

Portfolio Development Class

This intensive class is for serious young artists seeking to create competitive portfolios for art school and college admissions and scholarships. Students will be given new assignments as well as individualized suggestions for a specific course of action according to the student's portfolio needs, skill level, and time constraints. Class is limited to 10 students.

Middle School Painting X3

Explore new artistic territory by creating three paintings using watercolor, acrylic, and pastel. When the series is complete, all will be matted together to produce a stunning triptych. Serious Drawing for Middle School Students

Designed for middle school students who want to develop and strengthen drawing skills as a foundation for years of creativity to come, this course begins in the GCMA art studios, where students work from still life to learn the basic elements of drawing, including line, shape, value, composition, and perspective. Classes include demonstrations, tours of the GCMA galleries, and hands-on practice. All materials included in class fee.

Poem Pottery (Grades K5-5)

Students will experience the artistry and techniques of Dave Drake, a literate, South Carolina slave who lived during the Civil War. This class will include wheel demonstrations, handbuilding, drawing and writing poetry. All materials included in class fee.

Zoo Animal Art (Grades K5-5)

Baby giraffes have become quite popular in Greenville! Imaginations will be sparked as students create their personal zoo using paper mache, paint, and wire. All materials included in class fee.

Spring Break Weaving and Felting
