The Hickory Aviation Museum, operated by the Sabre Society of North Carolina, is located at the airport in Hickory, North Carolina. Static aircraft displays are located on the former terminal ramp, and the visitor center is in the former passenger terminal. The Sabre Society has been dedicated to the preservation of aviation history for over 16 years, but is perhaps best known for organizing some of the best airshows in the Eastern United States.

On May 19th, 2007, the Hickory Aviation Museum officially opened to the public. That opening was the culmination of years of work completed by many people. In the first half of 2007, museum officers and city officials were able to reach an agreement that allowed work to begin on the new museum. The all-new museum is in the former Flight Service Station in the airport terminal, and it is an educational attraction that the city of Hickory can be proud of.

Visitors to the museum will see several static aircraft on display, along with a visitor center that houses a revolving collection of various aviation artifacts. Have you ever wanted to see how a jet engine works? Stop by the museum and see the motorized cutaway rendering of an actual engine. You can also see samples of aircraft weapons, flight suits, and a real ejection seat. There are also special display cases dedicated to the local aspects of aviation in the Hickory area. Even if you have lived in the area for decades, you are sure to learn something new about your home town!
