Welcome to the wonderful cultural opportunities that Juneau's very lively arts community offers. The Council serves as your link to most of the arts groups in town. We hope you will feel at home here and invite you to call or drop by any time with any questions you may have about the arts and cultural opportunities in Juneau. We look forward to meeting you!
Juneau Arts and Humanities Council provides a variety of arts education programming:
- We coordinate the Artists in the Schools programs for the Juneau School District
- We are Kennedy Center Partners in Education with the Juneau School District and work closely with the district to integrate the arts into daily classroom curricula.
- As part of this, we offer Teaching Artists Academy workshops, developed and piloted here, and now implemented around the state. This helps prepare artists to work effectively in school classrooms.
- For more than ten years, we have offered ArtShops, after school and summer art programs at Cedar Park and Geneva Woods, through a grant from the Alaska Housing Finance Corporation.
- Performing artists from our Performing Arts & Culture Concert series offer Student Concerts in the schools.
- We coordinate the national Poetry Out Loud program for the state.
- We offer summer camps for children and adults.
- We provide scholarships for students to pursue their studies in the arts.
