KACC is an art center dedicated to promoting the local artist community through exhibits, education and programs. Our exhibits change once a month and admission is always free! We also have a wonderful gift shop full of items made by our member artists.

KACC was founded in 1995 by a group of community artists with a mission of providing a show place for local artists and furthering the art and cultural education of the community. The organization began its early years moving from one location to another, hosting art shows and art education.

When the Old Post Office was put on the open market, with the help of James Avery and Bank of the Hills, KACC bought the Post Office in July of 1999, took possession of the building in January 2000 and held the first show in March 2000.

A show featuring Texas furniture makers was envisioned in 2000 and has developed into the Texas Furniture Makers Show ™ which is one of the best attended shows at KACC with over half of the visitors coming from outside of Kerrville.

The building interior was transformed from a makeshift gallery to a beautiful and functional art gallery space. A Youth Art Show featuring the works of K - 12 students from up to 30 Hill Country schools has been hosted in the gallery each spring since 2002. The Armadillo Art Trail, supported by local merchants and artists, was a highly visible promotional event that served to place KACC in the public eye.

The Center instituted the Southwest Fine Art Gourd Show and was placed on the traveling agenda of both the American Watercolor Society and the National Watercolor Society. The Chocolate Fantasy became the key fund raising activity of the Center in 2005 and is now anticipated by chocolate lovers as far away as Houston and Dallas.

An elevator was added in 2007 giving complete accessibility for everyone to use the entire facility.

KACC attracts over 20,000 visitors annually. The Center is comprised of sixteen affiliated groups representing over 500 artists including oil and water media painters, photographers, wood turners, quilters and more. Four distinct galleries house as many as forty exhibitions each year. The KACC gift shop further draws attention to the outstanding artists in the Kerrville community and gives them an opportunity to market their works of art.

With a vision of being the arts and cultural anchor of a vibrant downtown area, the cultural hub of the Hill Country, and a nationally recognized arts destination, KACC continues to grow and expand its programs and services for local arts, artisans, and patrons of the arts.

The latest and current stage is improving the educational facilities with well lighted classrooms, an additional naturally lighted studio, and state-of-the-art audio and visual capabilities for guest demonstrators/lecturers.
