Lake Frierson State Park
Lake Frierson State Park is a great place to put a line in the water.
Atop the unique landform of rolling hills called Crowley's Ridge, this park on the shore of 335-acre Lake Frierson is a peaceful place to relax and enjoy the year-round fishing for bream, catfish, crappie, and bass. The park's natural beauty is enhanced each spring when the wild dogwoods throughout the park bloom.
Park facilities include campsites [four Class C with water and electric hookups, and three Class D (no hookups)] with tables and grills, restrooms, picnic sites, an enclosed climate-controlled pavilion, playground, self-guided trail, launch ramp, barrier-free fishing pier, and visitor center with interpretive exhibits.
Just 10 miles north of Jonesboro, Lake Frierson and Lake Frierson State Park front the western edge of picturesque Crowley's Ridge, a geological phenomenon which rises 100-200 feet above the surroundingcountryside and stretches from southern Missouri to the Mississippi River at Helena, Arkansas.
People are discovering that Lake Frierson is one of the hottest fishing spots in Northeast Arkansas. Built as a U.S. Soil Conservation Service project, this 335-acre lake is managed by the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission. On the eastern shore of the lake is 114-acre Lake Frierson State Park. Added to the Arkansas State Parks system in 1975, the park is a popular recreation and environmental education area.
The lake is stocked by the Game & Fish Commission. Excellent catches of bass, bream, channel catfish and crappie are being reported. Please remember no hunting is allowed in the State Park.
FACILITIES
? Located in a beautiful, wooded area near the lake and boat ramp are seven campsites. Four are equipped for RV's and camping trailers with electric and water hook-ups. Three are for tents only. All sites are equipped with table, grill and a lantern hanger.
Tent pads are available on selected sites. A bathhouse and sanitary dump station are at nearby Crowley's Ridge State Park. NOTE: Campers must register at the Visitor Center before occupying a site. All sites are assigned; sixty percent of the park's available campsites may be reserved up to one year in advance.
Fishing and Boating ? This timber filled lake provides excellent habitat for bass, bream, channel catfish and crappie. There is a free boat launch ramp on park property. Fishing boat rentals, boating supplies, tackle, fishing license and other items areavailable at the Visitor Center.
Visitors may rent fishing boats (no motors) or pedal boats (seasonal) at the Visitor Center. A barrier-free fishing pier is located in the day use area.
Wildlife Watching ? Lake Frierson State Park is an excellent wildlife viewing area. Along the parktrails watch for deer, squirrels, raccoons, opossums,snakes, box turtles, songbirds and wildflowers. On the lake and along the shoreline, osprey, woodpeckers, herons and kingfishers are seen year round along with aquatic turtles, frogs, toads and snakes. This is also a good viewing area for migratory waterfowl inthe winter.

Picnicking ? Overlooking the lake, the picnic areas offers tables, grills, water and nearby restrooms.
Adjacent to the picnic area is a barrier-free playground.
