Thank You! Your rating has been saved.

Founded in 1919, the Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art is one of the oldest museums in the state of Oklahoma. Father Gregory Gerrer, for whom the museum is named, was a Benedictine monk of considerable artistic talent. During Father Gerrer's travels to Europe, Africa and South America, he collected objects of artistic and ethnological value.

The museum's permanent collections include Egyptian, Greek and Roman objects; art from the Renaissance through the early 20th century; and large holdings of Native American African/Oceanic and Eastern cultural artifacts. In addition, the museum offers exciting special exhibitions throughout the year.

MGMoA Education

Each year, over 10,000 students benefit from MGMoA education programs!

Father Gregory Gerrer, the founder of the Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art, began his collection in the early 1900's with pedagogical intent. The MGMoA was founded for the purpose of educating Oklahomans and every item in the collection was selected for its ability to reveal something about the world. Thus, in keeping with Father Gerrer's original vision, it is the goal of the MGMoA education department to develop and execute programs and media employing the museum's collections to enable a diverse audience to learn about art, with art, and through art.

MGMoA Mission:

Believing that art is for everyone, the Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art enriches individual lives and enhances the entire community by empowering diverse patrons to engage with works of art from many cultures and time periods.
