MISSION: To preserve, enhance, and promote downtown Mason City as a diverse business, cultural and residential destination for the benefit of the entire community.

Main Street Mason City divides activities into being managed by four main committees, please click the committee which you are interested in.

The Main Street approach is a comprehensive process addressing the revitalization of Mason City through historic preservation, community image and promotions.

MAIN STREET FOUR POINT APPROACH

ORGANIZATION

The Organization Committee recruits and coordinates the volunteer efforts, addresses the annual fundraising activities for the continuation of the local program, informs the public about the accomplishments and projects of the local Main Street Program.

PROMOTION

The Promotion Committee organizes retail and special events as well as campaigns and activities that promote a positive image of Mason City, improving retail trade and unity in the business community and providing social activities and opportunities for area residents and visitors.

DESIGN

The Design Committee works with business and building owners to improve the physical appearance of our downtown with emphasis on historic preservation. They provide professional design and signage assistance (with Main Street Iowa), financial incentives, and workshops for our building and business owners.

BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT

The Business Improvement Committee diversifies and strengthens the downtown economic base, improves the competitiveness of merchants, and fills gaps by recruiting new businesses to provide a balanced retail mix. Informational resources are provided to our existing local businesses to assist them in addressing their competitiveness through improvements and expansions in their services and products.
