Market Square, Pittsburgh

Thank You! Your rating has been saved.

Renovated, refreshed, reinvigorated with more life than ever before! Historic Market Square is once again the hub of Downtown activity. During weekday lunchtimes, office workers and Downtown students fill the Square. Many grab a bite at one of the variety of eateries. Others brown bag it in the fresh air at the many comfortable tables and chairs, chatting with friends or surfing the Web on Downtown's free WiFi.

What makes Market Square special? The eclectic mix of old and new, from the Oyster House, which opened in 1871, to restaurants and watering holes that have just opened their doors. The unique attractions, from public art to quirky boutiques. The free events, from concerts and rallies, to one of the region's best Farmers Markets. And, the big events, like the annual Light-Up Night®, which by the way, kicks-off the 2012 Holiday Season on Friday, Nov. 16! And perhaps most of all-the people. Market Square is Pittsburgh people watching at its finest. Welcome, and enjoy your visit!
