Marshall County Memorial Library

We are dedicated to serving the people of Marshall County and enriching lives of all. Marshall County Memorial Library is a treasure chest of information and culture for our entire community. It is the work of our library and community to keep that chest unlocked and filled with a record of both human knowledge and imagination so that the lives of people of all ages and backgrounds can be enriched.

The doors to the current library opened on February 27, 1975. We have experienced changes along the way because of growth and library usage. This is a very good thing. But in that growth process we have also lost a meeting room.

The library continued to grow. It became apparent that more space was needed and building drives were begun but each failed. Then in 1973 revenue sharing funds became available and with an active library board, headed by Mr. John R. Owen, a steering committee headed by Dr. J.C. Leonard, city and county officials, and interested citizens went to work.

The City of Lewisburg and Marshall County jointly financed the building in which we now reside. With the help of individuals, businesses, industry and cities of Chapel Hill, Cornersville and Belfast funds were raised for furnishings.

The community should be proud of their library; they should take advantage of the services....check out a book, listen to a tape, watch a video, use a computer.
