McAllen Public Library
McAllen Public Library is a dynamic civic resource that promotes the open exchange of ideas through free access to information and connects a culturally diverse population with the global community.
After 60 years in its present location in downtown McAllen, the Main Library of McAllen Public Library looks forward to a new home, new look, and new direction. The building will be located at 4001 N. 23rd Street.
At 123,000 square feet, the new Main Library may very well be the largest single floor public library in the nation. The next largest is the Johnson County Central Resource Library in Overland Park, Kansas, at 90,547 square feet.
It has quiet reading room, self-check out units, art gallery, electronic classrooms, meeting rooms with audiovisual services, expanded children's area, used book store, automated materials handling system, themed wood ceiling and other special interior design features
