Mitchell: Home to Corn Palace and Indian Village

Mitchell, South Dakota-home of the World's Only Corn Palace-is also the home of the Mitchell Prehistoric Indian Village. Located just off Interstate 90, the Indian Village entices visitors to imagine what it was like to live in a 1,000-year-old former plains village.

Background and History

The Mitchell Prehistoric Indian Village is a six-acre site, overlooking the west bank of Lake Mitchell. It holds dual status as a National Register and National Historic Landmark site.

Board and Staff

The Indian Village operates under the direction of a talented volunteer board that includes civic, business, and cultural leaders who make unique contributions to the success of the organization.

How We're Funded
