Niles District Library
The mission of Niles District Library is to provide our community with access and guidance to resources that inform, entertain and enrich.
Administered by the Library of Michigan in partnership with Michigan's libraries of all types, the Michigan eLibrary (http://mel.org) will provide all Michigan residents with free access to online full-text articles, full-text books, digital images, and other valuable research information at any time via the Internet; and provide an easy-to-use interlibrary loan system to allow Michigan residents to borrow books and other library materials for free from participating Michigan libraries.
The library is proud to be the only place in Niles to get your pre-printed federal and state tax forms! We are also happy to be home to a great service which provides free tax filing for low-income households and the elderly.
Each year Niles District Library staff spend more than eighty hours ordering, receiving, stocking, and helping patrons with tax forms. The library receives no compensation from the state or federal government for providing this service to the public.
The library's community room seats about 64 people when room is arranged with chairs and tables; 136 people when room is arranged with chairs. Organizations engaged in educational, cultural, intellectual, or charitable activities who wish to offer programs free to the general public can pay $30 to use the room one time. It is also available for organizations who need a monthly meeting space for $200 annually.
The room is available for programs that start during regular library hours; we can usually accomodate programs that go a little later than our closing time
