Betty Moor MacGuire Hall

This beautiful entry lobby and patio room are named in honor of Betty Moor MacGuire. In 1986, Betty Moor MacGuire, as Board Chair of the El Paso Community Foundation, began the campaign to save the Plaza Theatre from demolition, and has been instrumental in its restoration and improvement. Mrs. MacGuire remains a strong philanthropic presence in El Paso's good works.

Kendle Elizabeth Kidd Performance Hall

The performance hall of the Historic Plaza Theatre is named in memory of Kendle Elizabeth Kidd by her parents, Community Foundation donors Sharon and Dr. Joe Kidd. Kendle was a vibrant and popular young woman who died in a car crash days before her high school graduation. Kendle's spirit lives on through the music, dance and celebration in the Plaza Theatre.

The Wyler Mighty Wurlitzer Pipe Organ

The Wyler Mighty Wurlitzer Pipe Organ, Opus 2123 was built by The Rudolph Wurlitzer Company and installed in the Plaza Theatre in 1930. It started as a Balaban 3 with 15 ranks and 1,071 pipes. Today it is one of only a handful of theatre organs in the United States installed in their original locations.

The El Paso Community Foundation donors Karl O. Wyler, Sr. and his wife Glyn purchased the organ in 1996 from a private collector and returned it to El Paso. The organ has been renamed in recognition of their generosity.

Axelson Grand Lobby

This lobby is named in honor of Frances Roderick Axelson and Robert Axelson, who gave generously to the restoration of the Plaza Theatre Performing Arts Centre. Frances, who is the daughter of Olga and Dorrance Roderick, is a former Board Chair of the El Paso Community Foundation. Robert is a former member of the Investment Advisory Committee of the Community Foundation

Bernice Dittmer Donor Salon

This elegant salon is named in memory of Bernice Dittmer, a fund donor of the El Paso Community Foundation. During her lifetime, Mrs. Dittmer wanted this space to honor the many people who contributed time and money to the Plaza Theatre Performing Arts Centre re-opening. The portraits hung here are members of the Community Foundation Steering Committee and the Mayors of El Paso who acted as stewards of the Plaza Theatre, and quality of life in our city.

Glyn Wyler Foyer

Glyn and Karl O. Wyler, Sr. were donors to the El Paso Community Foundation. Their wish was to see the Plaza Theatre re-opened to the public. Mr. and Mrs. Wyler donated Karl's annual salary to the El Paso Community Foundation for years, thus covering administrative costs, and allowing the foundation to focus on its main purpose: charitable grand making.

"The Plaza Theatre Annex consists of three components which will complement activities in this Historic Plaza Theatre or be stand-alone attractions for everyone," says Janice Woods Windle, Executive Director of the El Paso Community Foundation.
