We're jumpstarting 2013 with a renewed focus on contemporary art in its many forms. This winter's signature exhibition, Lois Dodd: Catching the Light, is a retrospective of one of Maine's preeminent artists, Lois Dodd, who is at the forefront of realist painters in America today. Her paintings offer a profound meditation on light and the natural world, as well as the seemingly simple act of looking out one's own window and experiencing the beauty of the garden outside. As we head into the new year, we are setting the stage for a broad array of programs that include painting, photography, drawing, sculpture, and installation art. Whenever you come visit you will be welcomed by art, and I hope that your experiences here will make you proud of your PMA.

The museum has entered and held the national spotlight with the opening of the Winslow Homer Studio and historic Weatherbeaten: Winslow Homer and Maine exhibition, both of which have garnered unprecedented acclaim. More than 70,000 visitors will experience the PMA this fall and winter and we will continue to strive to exceed your expectations for every aspect of your visit.

The PMA Store is overflowing with ideas for holiday gifts, the PMA Café by Aurora Provisions has treats to warm your soul, and PMA Movies are a perfect excuse to come in out of the cold. Gather with your friends and family at the museum and celebrate the season.
