OUR MISSION

The mission of the Racine Zoological Society is to foster an enlightening and affordable wildlife experience that improves the bond between people and nature. The Society will provide for the recreation and education of the people, the conservation of wildlife and wild places, and the advancement of science.

ANIMAL CHATS

Spend a few minutes with a member of the Racine Zoo's Animal Care of Education staff, learning and asking questions about your favorite zoo animals. Currently available on weekends

BENSTEAD DISCOVERY CENTER

Opened in 2008 as part of the Gateway to Adventure project. Don't forget to visit the Benstead Discovery Center located near the Zoo entrance across from the Zootique. Visit with reptiles and amphibians and take some time to enjoy the Zoo's 2000 gallon salt water fish habitat.

GIRAFFE ENCOUNTERS

Now available to the general public! Guests have the opportunity to come face-to-face with a Masai girafee. Feedings are supervised by Animal Care Specialists who can answer questions and share information about Mac and Bo, the Zoo's two bachelor giraffes. Feedings are available from May 1 through September 30th daily at 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Feedings are available on a first come, first served basis and have limited availability. Tickets are just $3.00!

NORCO AVIARY

This immersive and interactive exhibit allows guests to become a member of a flock of budgies, rosellas and cockateils by entering an open air aviary. Have the birds eat right from your hands! Open daily 10:00 am - 7:00 p.m. May 25th through September 3rd. Purchase a feedstick for $2.00 to esnure a close encounter with the animals.

PLAYZOO PLAYGROUND

Modeled to resemble an actual zoo, the PlayZoo features some truly exciting elements including a two story tall structure with three slides, lots of climbing opportunities and even a miniature zip line! The PlayZoo is further subdivided so that 2 to 5 year olds and 5 to 12 year olds can play to their hearts' content on equipment designed specifically for their abilities. Conveniently situated in the Charles & Jennifer Johnson land of the Giants, this feature is the perfect place for you to relax while the kids let their imagination run wild!

ROBINSON CRUSOE ADVENTURELAND PLAYGROUND

Take a break and let the kids run and play at the Zoo's wheelchair-friendly playground.

ZOO CHOO EXPRESS

This colorful miniature express train is a big hit with children and adults alike. Children under three travel for free with a paid adult. Ride the Zoo Choo 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. everyday Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. The Zoo Choo is also available on weekends in April,May,September,and October from 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.The schedule is weather permitting.The cost is $2.00 per rider.

Please note that admission/entrance gates close prior to the official Zoo closing time. **Note: On Saturday October 26th the zoo will be opening one hour later at 10:00am due to the Boo at the Zoo event.
