The Railroad Museum of Oklahoma is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) corporation formed for the preservation and display of historical railroad artifacts. The museum was founded by local people and represents the culmination of several years of work and determination by the members.

Our museum maintains a vast collection of unique railroad items, including:

  • A rail yard containing a collection of rolling stock.
  • Dining car china and silverware.
  • Bells, lights, whistles and lanterns.
  • Reference library of books, photos and videotapes.
  • Operating HO and N-gauge model railroads.

Our museum is a visible part of the Enid community and represents one of the largest collections of railroad material in the United States. Your comments and suggestions are welcome. The museum is funded entirely by donations (tax deductible; $3.00 suggested minimum) from visitors. For information about membership, or to make a contribution of railroad material or a monetary donation, please contact us. We appreciate your interest and look forward to your visit.

HISTORY OF THE MUSEUM

Incorporated in October of 1977 by a group of dedicated, visionary volunteers, the Railroad Museum of Oklahoma established permanent residence in the old Santa Fe freight warehouse north of downtown Enid. Officially opening its doors to the public on April 27, 1989 just across the street to the west of the Santa Fe passenger depot, the freight building was in sad shape when these railroad enthusiasts tackled its renovation starting in the late 1980's. Many months and hundreds of man-hours later, the building and its interior began resembling a museum and the rail yard began to take shape.
