Bringing Together the Community and the Arts

Our walls are filled with unique art from mainly local artists. We are amazed at the artistic talent that is available to the gallery and close to the Wahpeton-Breckenridge area. We have started to hang some of Fritz Scholder's art from a collection of over a dozen pieces that are on exhibit at the North Dakota State College of Science's library. Our plans are to have most of the collection in our gallery in the next couple of months. It will be the largest collection of Scholder's art in the Midwest. We also are featuring examples of Native American birch bark art, including biting, scroll work and artwork.

The gallery has a wide variety of items of which we are always expanding. These include numerous unique cards, children and adult books, book tapes, arrow heads, brass antler letter openers, wood turnings, carvings and scroll saw work, metal sculptures, hand made jewelry, pottery, wooden authentic farm and heavy machinery replicas, and many native American items.

The building that is the Red Door Art Gallery was built in 1915 by National Bank. The bank occupied the building until approximately 1955. After that various businesses were housed in the building until 1993. The building sat vacant 16 years. Through the vision and hard work of dedicated art lovers, the building has been transformed into the beautiful art gallery that it is today.

The gallery is now a Wi-Fi hotspot for the public to enjoy, compliments of RS Photography! Stop into the gallery to get the password to access the Internet and enjoy the benefits of online surfing.
