Riverside Discovery Center
Established in 1950, Riverside Zoo was a City-owned Park in Scottsbluff with a collection consisting mostly of waterfowl and a few deer. Throughout the zoo's lifespan, the citizens of Scottsbluff have voted repeatedly in strong support of the zoo's sustainability and milestone achievements.
We are about caring and sharing. We care about our animals, our community and nature itself. We love to share all our knowledge and expertise about animals, science and nature with our visitors. For all of us, sharing is both fun and rewarding.
We are about connections. In addition to teaching that everything in nature is connected, we help people connect to nature and become aware of their place in the natural scheme of things. We also connect with organizations and groups for education and conservation at all levels from local to international.
We are unique in the region. No other organization provides the scale, scope and quality of exhibits, facilities and programs that the Riverside Discovery Center offers.
We are affordable and accessible. Our rates for admissions, programs and memberships are very reasonable, we are easy to get to and we welcome any and all.
Our mission is to inspire a sense of awe and stewardship for the natural world by supporting conservation, education, discovery and recreation.
The Riverside Discovery Center is evolving and growing, we will continue to be responsive, flexible, and therefore, relevant to the needs of our customers and animals.
Children's University Created in 2007, the mission of Children's University, a 501 (c) (3), was to provide experiences that spark creativity and discovery, nurturing a love for lifelong learning. It was the desire of Children's University's leadership to partner with an existing educational facility to broaden their impact on the region, as they were a museum without walls. Joining with Riverside Zoo and Wildlife World to form the Riverside Discovery Center was a natural course of progression and the unique new synergy will out-pace the separate museums' impact by an immeasurable amount.
