Art for All Mission
To provide Art for All through education, exhibition, collection and preservation of art.
Goals
The Museum shall:
- brand the museum as a regional institution supporting its Art for All mission in the Great Lakes Bay region.
- recruit and maintain an effective board that is representative of the total region
- give evidence of responsible board governance and annual strategic planning
- review the Museum space and strive for improvement regarding usage, needs and security
- restructure the organization with Executive Director recruitment and additional job positions and descriptions
- develop a marketing plan that supports all the museum's initiatives
- increase individual and corporate memberships
- develop a strong volunteer program
- define the current collection and exhibitions plan for its future direction
- enhance collaboration with various cultural organizations and other stakeholders throughout the region
- reach all members of the community with art and related education, technology and cultural programs
- promote the unique facility and gardens
- provide excellent services quality education, events & exhibitions that merit the Great Lakes Bay community
EDUCATION
The Education Department at the Saginaw Art Museum prides itself on providing opportunities for aesthetic experiences by presenting objects and ideas in informative and stimulating ways. Through programming, the museum can support, reinforce, and enrich its curatorial objectives. The Education Department not only uses the Museum's permanent collection as an instrument for teaching, but also utilizes its special exhibits as a tool to promote study, observation, critical thinking, contemplation, and dialogue.
