San Francisco Sightseeing has provided premier sightseeing and motorcoach tours of San Francisco, the Bay area and beyond since 1910. We offer fun, interesting and educational sightseeing tours, motorcoach charters, convention services and more.
San Francisco Sightseeing is a wholly owned division of Horizon Coach Lines, the largest privately owned motor coach charter and sightseeing tour company in Northern California and the third largest in the U.S. At Horizon, our mission is to be our customer's safest and most reliable transport solution for on time and comfortable service through effective customer assistance and well-maintained vehicles.

Safety
Safety is always top of mind at San Francisco Sightseeing and Horizon Coach Lines. Our first-class safety department and management team focuses on "safety first" in all of our offices. Through our safety department, we enforce top standards for driver training, vehicle maintenance and record keeping. through programs such as the Smith System of Defensive Driving, we train our employees to create a safer environment.
As a result, Horizon Coach Lines has earned the following credentials:
- Top Rating as a Department of Defense Carrier
- Top Rating through the US Department of Transportation (USDOT)
The US Department of Defense Travel Management Office (DTMO) conducts safety audits for carriers approved to transport troops. Conducted on a bi-annual basis, Horizon Coach Line's most recent inspection was October 4, 2011. Horizon achieved the best rating possible. Similarly, USDOT provides spot audits on our fleet and Horizon consistently receives the top rating.
Our fleet of vehicles includes motorcoaches, motorized cable cars, mini buses, and English double-decker buses.
Our drivers are evaluated using the Department of Transportation's medical certification guidelines. New drivers take part in a multi-week training program conducted by our certified safety team. The training program covers:
- OSHA
- Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
- Customer Service
- Hours of Service
- Drug and Alcohol Screening
- Passenger Safety
- Vehicle Inspection
- Fundamentals of Defensive Driving
In addition, our drivers are required to take annual qualification and recertification tests to maintain their driving skills.
We are certified by the California Highway Patrol as a S.P.A.B. carrier for school related activities, and are a fully compliant A.D.A. (Americans with Disabilities) company.
