Venue Overview

Built in 1934, the San Jose Civic is a Spanish mission-style, dual-level venue that hosts a variety of events including concerts, performing arts, general assembly and special events. Located directly across the street from the San Jose McEnery Convention Center, the Civic features 3,001 seats in concert form. This facility provides additional exhibit and general assembly space in conjunction with the convention center and Parkside Hall.

Civic Concert Series

As a long-standing, major concert stop for acts touring the West Coast, the Civic has hosted such legends as the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Jefferson Airplane, Frank Sinatra, Barbara Streisand, The Grateful Dead and the Beach Boys. The Who started its first US headlining tour at the Civic in 1968. Big band leaders Duke Ellington & Harry James have also appeared. In the most recent years, bands including Beck, Interpol, Switchfoot, Reliant K, My Chemical Romance, the Pixies and even Snoop Dog have headlined the Civic's stage.
