About Us
Wayne Ackerlund
I started this business in 1994 originally as a weekend fishing guide on the Skykomish river. Since then we have grown a bit, and expanded to other rivers and other adventures as well. Our Skagit Eagle Tours happened more by accident than anything.. About 12 years ago I started filling some of my none fishing days with Eagle tours and got a lot of positive feed back in regards to having Propane Heat in the boat, and " not freezing our butts off in a rubber raft" As I have heard many times since then. Shortly after that I built the first website for my Guide Service and put a page on it for Eagle Viewing.
Since then it has grown mostly from the web site, word of mouth and return clients. During the 2 month peak of the season we are on the river 7 days a week doing 2 floats per day. During the weekends we often have 2 or 3 boats doing Eagle Tours. Photography has become a great interest of mine, and I am always excited about trying to get clients in just the right spot for the best photo opportunity. A little bit like fishing I guess. We started doing some Whitewater rafting on the upper reaches of the Skagit a few years back, and have also started doing guided Kayaking on the Sauk. Fishing is still a big part of our business, as well. We do many trips during the year on the Skagit and other premier rivers in Washington State. We are a fully licensed and insured outfitter and have a permit from the U.S. Forestry Service to provide fishing and rafting trips on the Wild and Scenic Skagit River. I am also a licensed Captain by the U.S. Coast Guard, and hold a 100 ton Masters. Myself and any guide that may take you on a river excursion is CPR and First Aid trained.
