Somernites Cruise
Somernites Cruise takes place each month on the 4th weekend, April thru October in downtown Somerset, KY. The event is best described as a classic car cruise but, goes much further than that. Block parties, Fun Run's and 'Cruisin The Strip are just a few of the many activities that participants and spectators may enjoy. Admission to Somernites Cruise is entirely FREE!
Recently named "The Car Cruise Capital of Kentucky" by the State Legislature, beautiful and historic Somerset is home to Somernites Cruise, held on the fourth Saturday of each month April-October, rain or shine. Entrance gates open at 1:00pm and the huge "Show & Shine" portion of the event concludes at 7:00pm. After that, cruisin' the strip action continues until the last car goes home.
Somernites is always FREE to participants and spectators while featuring an exciting, family-oriented atmosphere in an entirely original setting. On the blocked off streets of downtown Somerset, you can show your ride, meet other enthusiasts and admire the amazing cars on display. We encourage you to bring a lawn chair and sit along the street to watch 1000+ show cars & trucks as they enter the Show & Shine area.
Cruise weekends offer many free activities for the entire family on both Friday and Saturday. The Friday Night Block Party presented by Walmart in the heart of old downtown Somerset features live music, great food, family entertainment along with hundreds of great show cars & trucks!
The Somernites Show & Shine is a non-judged event open to all Street rods, Classics, Customs, Muscle cars and highly modified late models. We offer door prizes for participants as well as special events throughout the day. In our huge Vendor Alley you will find performance and restoration parts as well as great food and cool drinks to ensure you never run on empty during the day! Be sure to visit the free Swap Meet for deals on used parts as well. Great cruisin' music broadcast thru out the downtown area provides the perfect atmosphere for showing off your ride! Showcase Area's focus on a specific make or model all parked together as a show-within-a-show. Should you want to do a little shopping outside the downtown area, a FREE shuttle bus leaves every hour to take you to local shopping centers. One of the highlights of Cruise Weekend is 'cruisin the strip'! Thousands of spectators and cars pack "the strip" (US 27) to watch and take part in this time honored tradition. Its six lanes of fun that continues well into the night! The City of Somerset welcomes cruisers with open arms but, please abide by all posted speed limits and ordinances. We want to see you and your hotrod back next month!
