Southern Indiana Center for the Arts
It began as a dream...
...Now it provides services for area artists, arts education for our children and opportunities for instruction and arts appreciation by all!
The Southern Indiana Center for the Arts provides a stimulating and welcoming environment for all students, artists, and patrons of all ages to study, practice, and appreciate the arts. Together with community leaders, corporations, members, and individuals we are working toward the goal of providing the best resources for promoting artistic achievement and cultural enrichment.
About Us
The Art Center is a not-for-profit organization operated by a volunteer Board of Directors and volunteer Directors. Membership is available which puts you on our mailing list and offers several discounts at the Arts Center. Support of the Art Center is appreciated by your tax-deductable donations.
The Southern Indiana Center for the Arts is housed in an 1851 two-story brick mansion owned by recording artist John Mellencamp. It is a Greek revivalist style with Italian details on the porches. The house has a unique history and has changed little over the years.
The Art Center has taken care to keep the home-feeling of the house while serving as an Art Center.
Mission Statement
It is the mission of the Southern Indiana Center for the Arts to provide art education and enjoyment to the surrounding communities, both in a gallery and studio environment and to draw the attention of the state and surrounding states to the area of Jackson County as an art conscious region.
We love visitors, so please stop by! You are always welcome at SICA!
