Stone Valley Recreation Area is located in Huntingdon County of Central Pennsylvania, just 17 miles from State College. Stone Valley is owned and operated by The Pennsylvania State University, but all visitors are welcome to enjoy this year-round attraction.

At A Glance:

  • 72-acre fresh-water Lake Perez for boating, fishing and ice-skating (no swimming)

Wildlife:

You'll find a host of water-loving creatures, including frogs, beavers, and turtles. You can also often see deer, ducks and geese, depending upon the season. Species of fish you'll find in Lake Perez include:

  • Pickerel
  • Sunfish
  • Crappies
  • Catfish

Things to do

Hiking

Stone Valley has some 29 miles of hiking trails throughout the park. These trails are perfect for shaded walks, taking in the scenery, or exploring the shoreline.

Picnics

Picnic tables and barbecue grills are available for use at Stone Valley. Barbecue grills can be rented at $14.50 per day. We also have a picnic pavilion for rental April through October at $65.00 per day for University groups and $74.00 per day for non-University groups.

Vertical Adventures

Embark on a unique team-building experience chock-full of excitement. Our challenge course is one of the largest on the East Coast and is designed for teams to learn about problem solving, communication, collaboration and trust.

X-Country Skiing

Winter is a beautiful season at Stone Valley, and when it snows, it's time to hit the trails. Many of our 29 miles of trails offer scenic cross-country skiing opportunities. Have some fun!
